No One Told You to Build That
What happens when you start building something God never asked you to build? This is a story about control disguised as purpose — and the peace that comes from letting go of what was never yours to carry.

I heard it clear as day.
“You’re going the wrong way. No one told you to do that.”
It stopped me mid-scroll, mid-plan, mid-everything. I was in the middle of a new business idea — chasing momentum, making graphics, writing mission statements — and for a moment, it felt exciting. But if I’m honest, it also felt forced.
I was trying to help God out.
Trying to make purpose happen on my timeline.
Sometimes we build things out of fear that we’re falling behind. Sometimes we chase productivity because stillness feels too uncomfortable. But alignment and ambition aren’t the same thing — and this time, I had to admit that I was moving fast in the wrong direction.
The pause hurt my pride. I didn’t want to start over again. But I’ve learned that redirection isn’t punishment — it’s protection. Letting go of what wasn’t aligned created space for what actually is.
If you’ve been building something that doesn’t feel right anymore, it’s okay to stop. The world won’t fall apart. You might just find that peace was waiting on the other side of surrender all along.
