When Your Body Says Enough
I didn’t plan to stop. I planned to push through — just like I always did. But one day, my body said, no more.
It wasn’t dramatic. It wasn’t loud. It was just this quiet shutdown inside me — the kind that no amount of caffeine, affirmations, or to-do lists could fix. My nervous system was exhausted, and so was my spirit.
At first, I tried to “get back on track.” I called it a slump. I blamed hormones. I even made new goals to prove to myself that I was still productive. But the truth was, I didn’t need another plan. I needed peace.
Stepping away from work wasn’t about quitting — it was about listening. I had to learn how to rest without guilt, to sit in silence without rushing toward the next thing. That’s when I realized: burnout wasn’t my enemy. It was my body’s last attempt to get my attention.
Now, regulating my nervous system looks like simple things — deep breaths between tasks, journaling before I scroll, moving my body to release what words can’t. Healing started the moment I stopped running from stillness.
Your body always knows when it’s time to pause. The question is — will you listen before it screams?
