Rooted Remedies for Real Life

My introduction to herbs wasn’t through a wellness book or a yoga retreat.

It started with hair oils and body butters.

At the time, I was a cosmetologist and a sailor in the Navy Reserves — living between two worlds. In the salon, I mixed herbs and oils to soothe dry scalps and soften curls. At home, I experimented with natural skincare because I wanted to know what I was putting on my body.

But the deeper connection started when I wanted an alternative to marijuana.

I loved the ritual of rolling up and unwinding, but I was still in uniform — and drug tests weren’t optional. So I started researching smokable herbs that could create the same sense of calm without the consequences.

What I found surprised me.

There were plants that eased anxiety, helped me sleep, and calmed my mind — all without the high.

I shared them with a few friends who were also serving, and it turned into something bigger than just an experiment. It was a bridge: a way to relax, to heal, and to reconnect to something natural and intentional.

From there came tea blends, herbal oils, and rituals that started to feel like a form of self-care I didn’t have to earn. I realized that herbs had always been part of my life — I just hadn’t recognized them as allies before.

The Apothecary grew out of that blend of creativity, curiosity, and healing — rooted in real life, not perfection.

It’s not about being “all-natural” or living off the grid. It’s about remembering that there are gentler ways to take care of ourselves, and that sometimes, the simplest remedies bring us the most peace.

Welcome to The Apothecary — where beauty, balance, and everyday rituals meet.
